Whats going on here then?

Sunday the 30th of October marks 365 days and the finish of this blog. It will be time to hand over a small amount of money to a cause that needs so much more and I hope anyone finding this site will help in anyway they can. I have had so much fun doing this blog and at the same time so much stress in coming up with ideas, For the last few days I have left I will revisit some of my earlier pictures for an update or maybe need a little nudge in the right direction.
To all those who came back time and time again I thank you, to Google for removing the Ad links and the small amount of money raised; I blow you a raspberry and think you were mean and unapproachable.
Love to you all Oscar the Fox.

152, Stackage
A Triptych of coins. When stacked they almost take on an organic form, the first panel could be a cob of corn or they each could be a section of coral. At higher magnification the illusion dissolves.

150, Flaming Fish
Today is the 150th image I have created, for me that was an unachievable milestone but here we are.
The image I created today was started in the normal fashion, but nothing seemed to click with me until I started to manipulate it away from a picture of coins and into something a little different.
At low resolution it may appear just as a jumble of tiles but I hope when you enlarge it you'll like how it takes on its own life. See you @ 151 and beyond.

149, New Indoor Record
A little bit embarrassing on many levels tonite. First off I have been busy getting all my old vinyl records out and photographing them ready to put on ebay, and then I'm out of time for tonites Coin image, so you only get this cheap construction. But most embarrassing of all, check out the photo below and just look how far this album was discounted before I bought it. and even then I don't think I've actually played it.
$5.99 - $4.49 - $2.93 - and then 97 cents. (And who ever bought records from Myer music department)

148, Are we there yet.
Look its all good now, I have found the three wayward coins and brought them back into the fold. But I have only shown their approximate location so as not to cause embarrassment.
Please don't ask why they are slightly longer than 3.7 meters as I have no clue. There are exactly 148 coins and the mint assures me that they should all have a diameter of 25mm So I'm postulating that it is a particularly hot nite and they have stretched in the heat.

147, Weight a minute
I bet that every time you look at this Blog you ask yourself this question. How much does a one dollar coin weigh? Well I have asked myself this very same thing, so I broke out my digital kitchen scales and consulted the esteemed Wikipedia and here's the complete scientific answer.
A single Australian dollar coin weighs 9 grams. This is day 147 of this riveting blog; so 9 x 147 = 1323. Therefore my scales are either wrong by 25g or [a] we have lost some valuable metal due to wear, or [b] I'm cheating you of approximately 2.7 coins.
The correct answer is all of the above. With a quick count I only came up with 144 coins on the scales and I am guessing we have lost a little bit to wear and that these scales are probably out a smidge. (scientific term for a small quantity, roughly 1 smidge is = to a poofteenth)
In a kind act of attrition, I will present the missing coins in tomorrows blog post.

146, Alchemy
For quite some time now I have been trying to transmute basic coins into gold. So far all I've been able to do is turn money into beer and a fish curry. Not a real good start some would say.

145, I smell a Rat
A small amount of poetic licence today as I play with another of my new toys, my Wacom Pen Tablet. I picked it up at auction and it allows me to draw freehand as well as touching up pictures or a combination of both.
In the right hands it is a wonderful tool, in my hands I become a tool. Symbiosis.

144, Yongala
Today marks 100 years since the sinking of the passenger ship SS Yongala.
In 1911, the luxury passenger vessel SS Yongala disappeared in a cyclone south of Townsville. All one hundred and twenty-two people on board perished in what is considered one of the most tragic incidents in Australian maritime history.
It was only in 1958 that the wreck of the Yongala was discovered lying in waters south of Townsville, and it has since become renowned as an internationally regarded diving and tourist destination.

143, Shiny
Been busy little tykes here at the house of madness this past week, bike shows, road trips, thinking bout stuff to buy, buying stuff. We cleaned out part of the dungeon today to make room for inmate Jon's bike and picked up a new 2nd hand tank to put on it. So its only fitting to take a few snaps of it while its still shiny and straight. 34 years old and still original paint, I know I wasn't that smooth at that age.

142, On Target
I received a nice surprise in the mail today, Noah from http://skulladay.blogspot.com/ sent me a 365 badge for entering into a video competition (Day 127) and apart from the warm fuzzy feeling I get from doing this Blog and the twenty odd dollars raised so far from all your clicking on the adverts posted on this site its nice to get something as a reward for all the work done.
If you click on the image to zoom it bigger you'll see how cool it is. I guess if you want a merit badge of your own you'll have to check out the web address as shown in the picture below. So thank you Noah and to all the lookers for looking.

141, Deuce Coupe
Had a great weekend, Hot Rod and Bike shows, old friends and miles of road. So of course you knew you were getting a cheesy hot rod. OK so a five year old could draw a better picture, but I love 32 deuce coupes and this is as good as it gets when your paint brush is a handful of dollars.

140, Total Value
If I had a dollar for every kilometer I drove today then we would have enough coins to get us halfway through next year. Thats right, a 400+ km round trip to catch up with some friends and take in a bike show.
The down side is I don't have enough time to dazzle you with artistic stylings, so you are going to get a new instrument in time saving goodness. The How Much Barometer. expect to see this little beauty again in the future ha ha ha.

138, Dog's Pound
Here at ADAD, we are if nothing else bi-numismatists. you might say we have a penchant for Pounds, a fondness for francs, a yearning for yen or even a liking of lira. Although nothing dazzles like a dollar.

Australia's Largest Icon, The Myth of Ned Kelly.
And some of the creations that he has inspired. OK don't write in, I know the time line is a bit wonky, Ned was a time traveler as well.

Also shown is this small sample I stole from the above web site, it is titled Blue Tongue Lizard Dreaming and was painted by Brad Go-Sam.

132, Footy's Back
Another Aussie Icon, The Sherrin Football.
And tonite it was kicked to perfection by the Collingwood Football team to record their 2nd Grand Final win in a row. (OK it was the pre-season cup, but we at Collingwood would celebrate the tossing of the coin if we were to win that)

130, A Bridge too far
I thought I'd try a couple of Aussie Icons over the next few days, So I will begin with what we affectionately call the coat hanger. Now I know it's in Sydney and I'm a Melbourne boy, but I harbour no bridges.

If for some reason it wont load, try here. http://vimeo.com/20678019
You might notice that there is a frame from this vid on day 124, I was lucky and was able to recover most of the work I had done and this is the result. It is slightly better technically than the first video I made for day 100 but as you can see I aint no video maker.

124, Cheated
Yes my fine friends, today you have been cheated. This image is just one frame from an animation I was doing for a 365 project competition but my system crashed, wiped out the lot and now wont open my video programs due to corrupt files. As my good friend DR Smith would say, Oh the pain.
